Hello World

Chandler Lee Harris
4/7/11
8lbs, 8oz - 20 3/4"

Chandler was born 17 days ago and it has been such an amazing experience for me & Lauren. Chandler was welcomed into the world by his mom, dad, Grandma Glenna, "Pappy" Glenn and "Mimi" Julie at Mercy Hospital in Coconut Grove, FL.

The first few weeks have been relatively calm for us. Chandler usually sleeps 3-5 hours between feedings, especially at night. We are very fortunate that he lets us sleep a little bit. We have tried to pick out traits that he has from each of us but neither can determine quite who he looks like just yet, although others do have opinions on that already. We just love all the little faces he makes, like his Elvis lip, and the noises, like his snorting...it's pretty funny stuff. One trait he picked up from Lauren is the hiccups, which he seems to get at least once a day. But he's such a trooper and just sits there until they go away.

Chandler and Mom have been spending a lot of time together at home during the day while Daddy goes to work. We've had a good number of visitors here from our extended family and friends in South Florida. We also have been out a couple of times to let him meet our co-workers and we went out to lunch last weekend with the Bucher's & our friend Katie who came down from Orlando. Chandler is excited to meet his 'Pop' Andy this coming weekend when he comes for a visit. Pop was in China for a work trip when Chandler was born, so this will be his first time to meet him other than on Skype.

We want to thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, calls, texts and gifts for baby Chandler. He is so very loved and we are so appreciative.

The next few weeks will be busy for us. Assuming Chandler & Mom get a good report from their doctors, we will be making the move from Miami to our new house in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta, GA. We close on our house May 6th and our plan right now is to move up the following weekend. Chandler will get a big room all to himself and some new furniture, while mom & dad will enjoy having all of our belongings under one roof for the first time since we were married (thank goodness for no more storage units!).

We know there are still alot of you to see in the coming weeks and months, so we look forward to those times. Although we don't have our exact schedule worked out, we do plan on taking a trip over to MS in June and we will be visiting Nashville over the July 4th weekend to celebrate Matt & Siobhan's marriage  (which we will miss in Napa Valley in a few weeks).

Until then, here are a few more pictures of Chandler for the blog. Also we have a website that I try to keep updated several times a week with new photos, so check it out. http://gallery.me.com/Josh_Harris/100031

40 weeks and counting

...yea, yea, yea...we've gone too long between blog postings. We are aware. We have had a busy 6 weeks since the last update (house shopping in Atlanta, packing up as much of our house here as we can, preparing for Chandler's arrival, Josh's two-week tennis tournament and finalizing all the details on the home purchase).

As the little counter on the right side of the page will show, we are past 40 weeks. My due date of April 1st came and went with no progress. Since then, there has still been no progress, except for me being more uncomfortable. We've tried all the old wives tales on how to get this boy out of me, but none of them are working (hence why they are called tales). He definitely is trying to create his own due date.

As of last week, the ultrasound showed him at 7lbs, 5oz, so he is average size (not too big or small). The doctor decided to give me about another week, but here we are on 4/6/11 and still no progress. So, I will check into the hospital tonight to start the process of inducing labor. Our doctor went through the process, but I will spare you the details. Needless to say, if all goes well, CLH will arrive sometime tomorrow early afternoon.

We have been blessed to have mom (Glenna) and "Baby" here with us since March 26th. They have been a huge help with packing, cleaning and putting together all of Chandler's necessities (pack-n-play, stroller, glider, etc.), which you can see "Baby" testing out below. We really appreciate their willingness and ability to come down for several weeks. At this point though, we are all ready for Chandler to get here to maximize the time we have help. Josh's parents are flying in tonight and will be here for his arrival as well. Dad is in China right now, so he'll be down to see his grandson sometime later this month.

So, with all of that said, CLH should have birthday of 4/7/11. It's pretty neat in a few ways since 4+7=11 and my birthday is 7/11. We are very excited to meet him and can't wait for all of you to meet him in the near future as well.

We'll try our best to update the blog more frequently with pictures, etc once he arrives. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers for us over the past 9 months. We have the best family and friends anyone could ask for.

Here are a few pictures since our last update.

Parker has a new best friend, but he's not sure about all the changes going on at our house.
